We have a megalomaniac with the temper of a two-year-old and the manners of a high school bully in the most important office in America.
Climate change is happening, and the people with the power to take action have instead decided to try to squeeze every last bit of profit from the planet.
Our technology has been carefully designed to make us addicted to it, which means that the next generation is essentially glued to a screen.
We can’t trust the media; they’re sensationalized for ratings.
And that’s only the beginning… let’s not forget the guns, racism, sexism, homophobia, mass incarcerations, addictive pharmaceuticals, GMO seeds, broken health care, high fructose everything, stranded refugees, religious extremists, plastic in our oceans, slave labor, fracking, global hunger, precious metal mining, honor killings, sweatshops, pollution, and lack of clean drinking water.
Meanwhile, every advertisement we see has someone smiling and telling us to buy some shit that will make us feel better about how the world is going to shit. But nine times out of 10, that purchase only helps perpetuate the problem.
At work, we have two deadlines by end of day, 65 emails in our inbox, a boss that’s threatened by our work, a mom that says we don’t call enough, and a boyfriend that wants more attention.
We haven’t been to the gym in a week, we’re flushing all our money away on rent, and we’re not saving enough for a house or kids. Speaking of which, we’re 35 and should be making babies while we still can, but that could mean the end of our careers. We only get four weeks maternity leave, six if the doctors decide to slice open our stomach.
Bottom line is, we don’t have enough time for our own lives, let alone the massive problems plaguing this dysfunctional world.
Oy… that got dark pretty quick.
But when there is dark, there is always light. The light is you.
Your voice.
Your actions.
Your ideas.
Your presence.
You can’t stay in that dark place. The world needs your light.
